Ray Monk (biographer of J. Robert Oppenheimer) Talk and Booksigning

  • 24 May 2017
  • 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM (CST)
  • Fuller Lodge

Join Ray Monk, biographer of J. Robert Oppenheimer, for a talk and book signing in historic Fuller Lodge at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24th, sponsored by the Los Alamos History Museum and the Bradbury Science Museum. Robert Oppenheimer: A Life Inside the Center was praised in the Chicago Tribune as “essential reading for Oppie enthusiasts.” The event is free, and the biography will be available for purchase. Members of the Historical Society and the Bradbury Science Museum Association are invited to share membership benefits for this one event only—membership in either organization will get you a member discount at both museum’s sales tables at the event.

Ray Monk is a professor of philosophy at the University of Southampton, and in addition to his biography of Oppenheimer has written award-winning biographies of Ludwig Wittgenstein and Bertrand Russell. Professor Monk is the 2017 Miller Scholar at the Santa Fe Institute. The Telegraph described Monk’s biography of Oppenheimer as: “A triumph of historical investigation … It is the most personal and sensitive biography of Oppenheimer so far published; the man himself rises from the pages.”
